European Inventor Award 2011
Per-Ingvar Brånemark wins lifetime achievement award.
Brussels, 19 May 2011 - The European Patent Office (EPO), in cooperation with the Hungarian EU Council Presidency and the European Commission, awarded Per-Ingvar Brånemark Europe's most prestigious innovation prize at the Academy of Sciences in Budapest today.
This lifetime achievement award recognizes Per-Ingvar Brånemark’s pioneering work in the field of implant technology.
The European Inventor Award is the most prestigious prize for innovation in Europe. Launched in 2006, it is presented annually by the European Patent Office, in co-operation with the European Commission and the country holding the EU Council Presidency at the time of the award ceremony, which this year is Hungary.
The awards honor individuals and teams whose pioneering work provides answers to the challenges of our age and thereby contribute to progress and prosperity.
The winners are decided by an independent jury of including, amongst others, the President of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, the Director General of the Deutsches Museum, Wolfgang Heckl, the President of the Royal Board of the National Library of Spain and the Institute of Predictive and Personalized Medicine, Margarita Salas, and Erno Rubik, architect, designer, university professor and inventor of the Rubik's Cube.
